Shanxi Jiasheng Carbon Technology Co., Ltd. sincerely looks forward to and warmly welcomes both new and existing customers to visit and discuss business opportunities.
The process of machining graphite electrodes, as well as the calcination and roasting involved in carbon production.
In carbon production, the raw materials commonly used can be categorized into two main types: solid carbonaceous materials and binders and impregnating agents. Solid carbonaceous materials include petroleum coke, pitch coke, metallurgical coke, anthracite coal, natural graphite, and graphite scrap, among others. Binders and impregnating agents encompass coal tar pitch, coal tar, anthracene oil, and synthetic resins, among others. In addition, certain auxiliary materials such as quartz sand, metallurgical coke pellets, and coke fines are also employed in the production process. For the manufacture of certain specialty carbons and graphite products (such as carbon fibers, activated carbon, pyrolytic carbon, pyrolytic graphite, and glassy carbon), other specialized raw materials are utilized.

The prices of petroleum coke from major refineries have been raised, while the prices of some local petroleum cokes have seen a pullback.
This week, the petroleum coke market saw active trading activity, with prices generally rising. Some independent refineries experienced a pullback in coking coal prices. Petroleum coke production remains low, while downstream demand remains stable. Sinopec raised its petroleum coke prices by 20-80 yuan per ton. PetroChina increased its petroleum coke prices by 50-100 yuan per ton in some regions. CNOOC also raised its petroleum coke prices by 50-150 yuan per ton in certain areas. Among independent refineries, prices for higher-priced petroleum coke fell sharply by 10-80 yuan per ton, while prices for some other grades continued to rise by 20-100 yuan per ton.

Now is the perfect time to vie for dominance in the Central Plains! China Baowu will accelerate its industrial presence in Henan Province.
On November 17, the Shanghai-Henan Cooperation and Exchange Conference暨 Project Signing Ceremony was held in Shanghai. Attendees included Wang Guosheng, Secretary of the Henan Provincial Party Committee; Yin Hong, Governor of Henan Province; and Zong Ming, Vice Mayor of Shanghai. Chen Derong, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Baowu Steel Group, delivered a keynote speech titled “Central-Local Cooperation: Competing for the Central Plains and Accelerating China Baowu’s Industrial Deployment in Henan.” China Baowu’s subsidiary, Baowu Aluminum, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Management Committee of the Sanmenxia High-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Henan Province.

The Chinese pre-baked anode market is seeing strong start-up activity.
On October 21, mainstream prices in China’s pre-baked anode market remained stable. Today, the price of raw material petroleum coke continued to rise strongly, while the price of coal pitch kept climbing, driven by both supply and demand. These rising costs continue to exert upward pressure on pre-baked anode prices.

Production Process Flow of Graphite Electrodes
Graphite electrodes are high-temperature, conductive graphite materials produced through a series of processes—including mixing, forming, roasting, impregnation, graphitization, and mechanical machining—using petroleum coke and needle coke as aggregates and coal tar pitch as a binder. Graphite electrodes serve as crucial high-temperature conductive materials in electric arc furnaces for steelmaking. By feeding electrical energy into the furnace via graphite electrodes, a high-temperature arc is generated between the electrode tips and the charge material, providing the heat necessary to melt the charge and carry out steelmaking. Graphite electrodes are also used as conductive materials in other types of smelting furnaces, such as those employed in the production of yellow phosphorus, industrial silicon, and abrasives. Thanks to their excellent and unique physicochemical properties, graphite electrodes find extensive applications in various other industrial sectors as well.

Revealing the Gold-Rush Players in the Graphene Industry: The Mobile Phone Supply Chain Is the First to “Resonate”
Sun Changxu, partner at Xiaomi’s Industrial Investment Department, disclosed publicly that Xiaomi has invested in Guangdong Morui Technology Co., Ltd., a company engaged in the chemical synthesis production of graphene. He also noted that Morui Technology is the only domestic enterprise specializing in new materials that covers the entire process—from chemical synthesis of graphene to mass production of high-performance thermal-conducting films. This marks yet another “black technology” investment by Xiaomi.
Driven by both raw material and downstream steel prices, the graphite electrode market is rebounding from its bottom.
Recently, the prices of graphite electrode raw materials have risen, while downstream steel market prices have been gradually increasing. At the same time, overall graphite electrode inventories in the market are currently declining at a slow pace, and supply and demand are gradually moving toward balance. As a result, the graphite electrode market may soon experience a brief rebound.

Graphite Electrode Market: Inquiries Increase, Market Transactions Gradually Improve
Starting from the end of August, overseas orders have begun to recover gradually, though they’re still far from reaching pre-pandemic levels. Domestic graphite electrode companies report that inquiries have recently started increasing, and some are already placing contracts for December deliveries—primarily from the Middle East and Russia, with Russia accounting for a relatively larger share. In the first half of this year, Russia’s steel production declined by less than 5%, so demand has remained relatively stable. By contrast, the European market—which previously accounted for roughly half of China’s exports—experienced a nearly 20% drop in steel production this year, leading to weak demand.
