On July 17, the 100,000-ton-per-year lithium-battery anode material precursor project of Luoyang Honglian New Materials was smoothly handed over for completion. From the start of construction on August 15, 2023, to its completion and handover, the project took just one year, successfully setting a new record for construction speed among industrial projects in the region.
Over the past year, thanks to the tenacious efforts and relentless dedication of all project participants, the project was completed ahead of schedule and handed over for operation. As a downstream partner in the million-ton ethylene project, Honglian New Materials’ high-quality anode precursor materials—once produced—will be integrated with the power battery production lines at CATL’s Luoyang base, providing robust support for the “heart” of new-energy vehicles.
The two core units of the Luoyang Honglian New Materials Project were constructed by China National Chemical Engineering Fourteenth Construction Co., Ltd. Over the course of one year, the company completed a construction area of 50,000 square meters, over 4,000 tons of steel structure, 150,000 pipeline connections, and laid 1.4 million meters of cable. The remarkable speed once again set a new record for high-quality and efficient construction.
The handover of the project engineering marks the completion of construction and installation, signaling the transition from individual equipment commissioning to integrated system commissioning, and from the construction phase to the production preparation phase.
This project is a supporting initiative introduced and implemented by Luoyang Industrial Control Group around the Zhongzhou Times New Energy Base. Once operational, it will provide complementary support to downstream projects, helping Mengjin District develop into a provincial-level base for lithium-battery new-energy materials in Henan Province and making a positive contribution to the high-quality economic and social development of the local area.
Ren Kaidong, Deputy General Manager of Luoyang Honglian New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., said: “The successful handover of Honglian’s 100,000-ton-per-year lithium-battery negative-electrode material precursor project is just the first step in our long journey. What’s even more important now is to start up and test-run the plant. All the employees and cadres of Honglian Company will take today’s project handover as a new starting point, tackle tough challenges, break through barriers, and forge ahead with determination toward the goal of achieving a successful first-time startup and test run.” Source: Honglian Company, Mengjin Rongmei
