Information Summary:
Since the first batch of trailers loaded with graphene production-line equipment rolled into the industrial park of Chongqing Qikai Vehicle Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Qikai”) in Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County, Chongqing City, on the morning of November 21, the company has been bustling with activity—vehicles and personnel coming and going daily in a busy yet orderly manner. This marks the official establishment of the graphene production line—the national demonstration park for energy-storage battery industries—at “Qikai,” following repeated inspections, research, and consultations among relevant enterprises that have reached a consensus.

It is understood that graphene is a two-dimensional material consisting of a single-layer, honeycomb-like lattice formed by carbon atoms arranged in hexagonal structures via sp2 hybridized orbitals—a material only one carbon atom thick. For a long time, graphene was considered a hypothetical structure that could not exist stably on its own. However, in 2004, physicists Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov from the University of Manchester in the UK successfully isolated graphene from graphite in an experiment, thereby demonstrating that it could indeed exist independently. For their groundbreaking experiments on two-dimensional graphene materials, the two scientists jointly received the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics.

In accordance with the deployment of “National Power,” Xinxihui New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a new energy group enterprise under the National Power Corporation, together with Hunan Bingge Mengxinghe Enterprise Group Co., Ltd., Huaxin Lulong Holding Group Co., Ltd., and Sichuan Zhongkong Chengjian Industrial Co., Ltd., and with the consent of the patent holders—the 20th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation and the Beijing Zhucheng Boxin National Defense Science and Technology Development Center—will relocate the Xiamen Industrial Laboratory and its technological achievements, including the graphene production line, entirely to Shizhu County, where they will be put into R&D and large-scale production under the “Qi Kai” brand.
“The graphene production line has been completely relocated to Shizhu County, and its project will drive local economic development,” said Wu Xianquan, Chairman of “Qi Kai.” According to him, the first phase of the project will involve an investment of 2 billion yuan. Once fully operational, the annual output value will reach 10 billion yuan, generating 1 billion yuan in tax revenue and creating 300 new jobs.
