On April 17, Wang Ning, Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, visited the Anning Industrial Park in Kunming City to inspect the integrated production base of Yunnan Shanshan New Materials Co., Ltd., which has an annual capacity of 300,000 tons of lithium-ion battery negative electrode materials. Leaders from Yunnan Province and Kunming City, including Liu Hongjian, Zhao Junmin, and Liu Yong, also participated in the inspection.
Geng Hailong, General Manager of Yunnan Shanshan New Materials Co., Ltd., reported on the project’s status. The Yunnan Shanshan project is planned to have a total investment of 12 billion yuan and will be constructed in two phases, featuring a modern production line that integrates six major processes: grinding, modification, graphitization, secondary coating, carbonization, and finished-product manufacturing. The project is scheduled to officially begin operations in 2024. Relying on the stable supply of petroleum coke from PetroChina Yunnan Petrochemical, the base has achieved localized support for the core raw materials used in negative-electrode materials. In 2024, Yunnan Shanshan shipped over 80,000 tons of products across all processing stages, generating an output value exceeding 2 billion yuan.
Wang Ning engaged in in-depth discussions with park officials and enterprise managers, encouraging businesses to seize opportunities, ride the momentum, and accelerate the construction of later-stage projects. He emphasized that enterprises should take the lead in attracting and fostering the clustering and development of upstream and downstream companies in the industrial chain, leveraging Yunnan’s resource advantages to extend, supplement, and strengthen the new energy battery industry chain. He also stressed the need to enhance policy support and ensure adequate resource allocation, promote coordinated efforts between provincial and municipal authorities, speed up the cultivation of key enterprises and the construction of major projects, and build a vibrant cluster of new energy battery industries.
The Yunnan Shanshan Base is invested and constructed by Shanshan Technology, a global leader in artificial graphite. Shanshan Technology’s core products are artificial graphite for lithium-ion battery anodes in various specifications. The company has successively won numerous prestigious awards, including National High-Tech Enterprise, National Enterprise Technology Center, and National Manufacturing Single Champion. The company consistently maintains high levels of R&D investment and holds over 400 patents. It boasts strong competitiveness in areas such as high specific energy technology, fast-charging technology, ultra-low-temperature technology, and long-cycle life technology.
