According to a report by MiningNews.net, UBS, after conducting an in-depth study of graphite, believes that graphite prices are expected to rise due to increasing demand from the electric vehicle sector.

Currently, the price of graphite is approximately US$570 per ton. UBS forecasts that the long-term price of graphite will reach US$850 per ton, representing a 50% increase from current levels.

The prediction is based on:

First, by 2030, global annual sales of electric vehicles will exceed 51 million units, representing a fivefold increase.

Second, by 2030, the capacity of power batteries will increase by 30% (to approximately 80 kWh).

In addition to battery disassembly, UBS Research believes that anode density will increase, with the proportion of natural graphite anode materials rising. Based on this, it infers that demand for graphite will also rise.

UBS estimates that demand for natural graphite will reach 6.3 million tons by 2030, representing a sixfold increase, and a supply gap is expected to emerge starting in 2025.
